Working with BirdWatch Ireland, author Susan O’Donohoe created this magical book on Irish Barn Owls, which offers an insight into the secret world of one of our most mysterious and beloved birds. Susan will tell the story of ‘Golden Wings’, which follows the journey of a female Barn Owl from hatching to starting her own family, and all her encounters and experiences in between. 'Golden Wings' is brought to vivid life by the illustrations of renowned wildlife artist Robert Vaughan and further enhanced with the graphic design by Sara Sirtoli.

Golden Wings was produced by BirdWatch Ireland and Galway County Council as an action of the Galway County Heritage and Biodiversity Plan 20172022, and the Galway County Culture and Creativity Strategy 20182022, which was funded by Creative Ireland and Galway County Council.

This reading is organised for Wild Child Day of Heritage Week 2021 and is part of the Barn Owl monitoring and conservation in Galway, which is carried out by BirdWatch Ireland in partnership with Galway County Council with the support of the National Biodiversity Action Plan Fund of the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government.
