What can I really say about the Godzilla theme that hasn't been said already? It's one of the most iconic film themes of all time, it's bursting with power and grandeur, and I don't think another theme has ever fit the character as much as this. In the Heisei series, Godzilla was also accompanied by an eight note motif representing the Godzillasaurus, which is later reused for him in his final film, bringing things full circle with his creation and death. And of course, Requiem is an integral part of Godzilla music history, not only being Akira Ifukube's farewell to the character, but to film scoring in general. Never has a composer's life and their work ever melded together so poetically.
