It looks quiet and cozy on the farm when it is a snowy winter day, but all kinds of things are happening beneath the surface. We have begun breeding and expect that up to 15 goats could already be bred, we’ll find out when we do ultrasounds the first week of January. The rest will be bred in the weeks and months ahead for kids throughout the summer. So the goats are busy making babies for us all to enjoy the spring and summer and we are taking good care to feed them well, trim their hooves and keep them warm and healthy.

Perhaps you too are creating some beautiful things beneath the surface in these quieter months. Are you finding new confidence, nurturing new creativity, taking time to honor and process grief? Nature is asking us to slow down, go within, find more meaning. If you ever need a model of this for yourself, think of the goats, trotting out to meals, keeping each other cozy, taking the days extra slow.
