Give Me Back That FiletOFish McDonald's Lenten Season Fish Sandwich Review

Sean revisits an old favorite with the McDonald's FiletoFish. It's Friday so no meat and we're headed off for some BOGO McFish action.

The McDonald's FiletOFish sandwich has become an iconic menu item over its 50+ year existence. First developed by Lou Groen in Cincinnati, Ohio during Lent when sales dropped significantly due to Catholics abstaining from eating meat on Fridays; Groen came up with the concept for this fish sandwich which eventually evolved into the FiletOFish.

The FiletOFish from McDonald's features a crispy breaded fish patty topped with tartar sauce, American cheese and served in a soft steamed bun. According to McDonald's, its fish is responsibly harvested from sustainable fisheries an important consideration among today's consumers.

One reason the FiletOFish sandwich has such an immense following is due to its simplicity and flavorful appeal. No need for lettuce, tomato and pickles when this classic fish sandwich hits the spot!

FiletOFish has quickly become one of the most beloved dishes among vegetarians and pescatarians alike, providing satisfying yet flavorful alternatives to hamburgers that provide satisfying sustenance without meat consumption.

While still popular, the FiletOFish has garnered significant criticism due to its high calorie and fat content; according to McDonald's estimates for each whole sandwich is 390 Calories with 19 Grams of Fat; nonetheless it still makes for a healthier option compared to some items such as Big Mac or Quarter Pounder with Cheese on McDonald's menu.

Not only has McDonald's FiletOFish been widely acclaimed for its nutritional benefits, it has also come under scrutiny due to its potential environmental impacts. While some have raised issues around overfishing and population depletion concerns, McDonald's uses only sustainably managed fisheries which helps alleviate such concerns.

Even with all its criticisms, McDonald's FiletOFish remains one of the most beloved menu items. A classic sandwich which has outlived time's test and remains beloved among customers worldwide.

McDonald's FiletOFish sandwich has been around for 50 years and continues to remain a customer favorite today. While originally created during Lent as a way of meeting specific dietary needs, its popularity has since skyrocketed; its simplicity and flavor making it appealing even among nonmeat eaters, while providing satisfying alternatives such as its famous Big Macs or their beloved fries! Though criticised due to nutritional content or environmental impact issues, McDonalds has taken measures in response, such as purchasing fish from sustainable managed fisheries to ensure customers enjoy this menu item! In conclusion, its legacy endures as one of McDonald's most beloved menu items!
