This Briggs and Stratton generator engine ran out of oil and blew a hole in the case when the rod broke. I had a Subaru / Robin EX30 engine which had the same bolt pattern for the Briggs generator head. Also, the engine dimensions look compatible so watch as I try to repower a Briggs and Stratton Storm Responder Generator with a Subaru / Robin engine. NOTE: the original Briggs engine was rated at 14hp. The Subaru / Robin is rated at 8.5hp at 3600 rpm. That will be enough to support the 5500 continuous watt rating that the generator originally had, but will limit to surge capability to about 6500 watts.
