HOW TO MAKE FROZEN KETO FRENCH FRIES

All over social media, Heavenly Fan’s viral keto french fries viral has taken storm. Everyone is trying this 3 ingredient keto recipe that is supposed to look, feel and taste just like McDonald’s french fries. Of course, I had to try these low carb french fries that her fans call Heavenly Fries.

There are two ways to make them. She shows you how to make them using almond flour and coconut flour. I only used almond flour to make these keto fries because I don’t care for the taste of coconut flour.

In this video, I show you how to make her recipe. Along with the 2 common big mistakes I made when making them and how you can avoid these mistakes when you make your keto french fries.

I also show you some of my experiments with trying to perfect the fries even more. Three attempts and the last was successful! If you want to see how I tweaked to make authentic tasting keto french fries, then stay to the end.

The most amazing thing to come from this recipe, besides the best keto french fries ever, is that you can FREEZE THESE FRENCH FRIES!!! To freeze, lay them out on a parchment lined baking tray. Place in freezer to harden. Once hard, place the keto fries in a freezer safe bag and freeze until ready to use. To heat, add to hot oil or bake from frozen!

KETO FRENCH FRIES RECIPE

100 g almond flour (1/2 cup + 1/3 cup)
1 tablespoon xanthan gum
1/2 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons hot water
20 drops mashed potato flavor drops, optional
olive oil for frying

In a small bowl, whisk together almond flour, xanthan gum and salt. Mix in hot water and flavor extract if using. Knead together with hands until combined. Place dough in between two sheets of parchment paper and roll out to an 1/4 inch thick using a rolling pin. Slice dough into small strips. Try to get them as thin as possible, around 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick.

TO FRY: To a large skillet, add enough olive oil to cover the keto french fries as they cook. Let heat over medium heat. Once the oil is heated, add a single layer of fries to the oil and let them cook until golden brown on all sides. May need to turn them to cook all sides. Remove from the oil and onto a paper towel lined plate. Sprinkle with additional salt if needed.

TO BAKE: To bake, spread french fries out in a single layer onto a baking tray. Spray the fries with olive oil. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.

TO AIR FRY: To air fry, spread french fries onto the air fryer basket or tray in a single layer. Spray the fries with olive oil. Air fry at 400 degrees for 6 minutes.

TO FREEZE: Lay strips of dough onto a parchment lined baking tray and stick in the freezer. Once frozen, remove the fries from the tray and store in freezer safe bag in the freezer. Proceed with directions below to cook from frozen.
