If it's your first time riding Japan's bullet train, aka the Shinkansen, I have just a handful of tips from my experience riding the Shinkansen for the very first time last year! Spoiler it's not as scary as you would think

My TOP TIP for riding the Shinkansen for the first time is to take taxi to your departing station. It is less stressful and you don't have to carry all of your bags with you.

It will also give you control of when you want to arrive at the station. I would highly suggest getting there at least 30 minutes before your departure time. It gives some time for you to find the correct platform, buy some Ekibens, as well as use the toilet if needed.

I didn't get the JR Rail Pass because after I calculate how much I'll spend, it makes more sense to get the Shinkansen ticket individually. So I stumbled upon the SmartEx App and that's who I was able to purchase my tickets.
