I am working with a beginner to show how to edge a lawn with a string trimmer and edger. My wife has never used a weed eater or a stick edger. I show her my lawn edging techniques with both of these tools. Let's just say, it does take a little practice to get the hang of these skills. Be sure to wear protective gear. In my opinion, the stick edger is a little easier to learn. I think it is helpful to learn edging with both tools. Sometimes even if you use a stick edger for sidewalks and driveways, you may want to use a string trimmer to edge around trees or flower beds.
