The Royal Navy's fully loaded F35B is tested on the deck of HMS Prince of Wales off the US East Coast. In naval aviation parlance, this is known as ‘beast mode’: each pylon is occupied by a gun, and the bomb bay inside vibrates. When fully loaded, the F35B can produce 22,000 pounds of destructive and defensive force: airtoair and airtoground missiles as well as conventional and laserguided bombs. Lockheed Martin F35 Joint Strike Fighters have made the first Shipborne Rolling Vertical Landings (SRVL) onto the Royal Navy’s Prince of Wales aircraft carrier.
