In this video, you will learn how to extract data from netCDF files using QGIS and ArcGIS

NetCDF(Network Common Data Form) is one of the most commonly used file formats especially for storing multidimensional scientific datasets. In this video, you will learn how to unpack the stored information in netCDF files using the tools of both ArcGIS and QGIS3.

When using ArcGIS, you can can make use of the "Make netCDF Raster Layer" tool to project the dataset as a raster file, for any number of variables, while taking into account the time dimension as well. In QGIS, you can import the netCDF file directly as a raster file, however once the file is imported you may have to change the Symbology accordingly to visualize corresponding dataset.
