Assam’s Ahom Dynasty was one of the longest living dynasties in India yet not much is known about them outside Assam. They ruled for almost 600 years and successfully overcame 17 attacks by the Mughals in Delhi.

When I heard about the Ahoms, a few questions came to my mind immediately. Where did they come from? How did they become so successful? And how after 600 years of rule, they suddenly disappeared are there still any Ahom Royals around in Assam?

In today’s video, we’ll cover their first capital Charaideo, and some of their other cities like Garhgaon, Sibsagar (or Sivasagar) and Jorhat. In Charaideo they also built their scared pyramids to bury the dead called Maidan. In Sibsagar they created stunning architecture and finally their last capital was Jorhat.
