00:00 Diagnosis engine fault with ISTAD
As in the previous episodes, I do a 160 tkm service for my BMW F20 car
The car currently consumes about one liter of oil per 1000 kilometers
Where does the oil disappear? Engine worn out? Valve stem rubbers in replacement condition? Oil leak?
Let's find out a little more about it with ISTAD
Possible causes: Oil level, Camshaft sensor, VANOS Solenoid valve (exhaust)

This is okay; The valve pin ball is in place and moves just fine!
I'll replace the oil filter with a new one just to be sure

Let's continue to investigate the possible fault
Vanos solenoid valve exhaust function test ok!
05:44 Remove Vanos solenoid valve
Next, we check the cables and connectors from the DME control unit to the Solenoid valve
Disconnect the exhaust VANOS solenoid valve from the engine
This exhaust solenoid valve is pretty clean
I also removed the solenoid valve on the intake side without a camera
08:53 Test and measure Vanos solenoid valves
Next, we measure the coil resistance, which according to ISTAD should be approx. 10.5 Ω
EXHAUST Vanos solenoid valve gives a result of 7.1 Ω.
INTAKE Vanos solenoid valve gives a result of 7.2 Ω
Why is the result in both approx. 7.1 Ω, when it should be approx. 10.5 Ω??
Let's test the functionality of these with battery power
I think these fault codes were just caused by too little oil
This car does not have an oil level sensor!!
The fault codes did not recur after adding oil and resetting the fault codes
But again after driving about 1000 km this same problem and the same error codes
Those oils will disappear somewhere, but where?!
In the next episode, we will measure the compression pressures of the cylinders from the engine
