We have spent the last few months playing around with different mixtures / methods— and this one that we’ve come up with has been our favorite by far! We are able to source all of the ingredients from local mills and we love that it is soy and corn free. Our Hens are happy as can be on this mixture and lay great while on it!! (BE SURE TO LEAVE OUT FREE CHOICE OYSTER SHELLS OR CRUSHED EGG SHELLS WHILE DOING THIS MIXTURE).
Isn’t it nice to know exactly what’s in their food?? layer pellets from the store are also typically held together with bentonite clay, giving no added nutritional value and ends up being being mostly filler that you pay for.
This has stretched how far our food goes and the chickens get to consume only what they need without any added fillers! Sounds like a win to me!
