Easy Apple Crisp Filling Ingredients
about 3 lbs apples (I'm using Honeycrisp and SweeTango)
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 4 tablespoons of granulated sugar to taste (if your apples are more tart, use 4 tblsp)

Easy Apple Crisp Topping Ingredients
1 1/4 cup of flour
1/2 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
1/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
12 tablespoons butter

Easy Apple Crisp Recipe Directions
First I'll show you how to make the apple crisp topping. Measure out a cup and 1/4 of flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar (you can use either light or dark),1/4 cup white granulated sugar and 3/4 teaspoons kosher salt. Mix this all together, then add 12 tablespoons of butter. I'm grating it into the bowl, you can also dice the butter into small chunks. Use a pastry blender or your fingers to incorporate the butter into the mixture, until its in about pea sized pieces. Add 1 1/2 cups old fashioned oats, not the instant oats. Use your hands to toss the mixture together, squeezing a bit to form little buttery oat clusters. Put the apple crisp topping into the refrigerator while making the apple crisp filling.

Next, begin preheating the oven to 375. Juice one or two lemons so you have 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, and set this aside. Wash about 3 pounds of apples, then peel, core and chop into 1/2 inch pieces. Add the chopped apples to a large mixing bowl, add some lemon juice and toss. Continue cutting the apples until they're all chopped. Add the rest of the lemon juice and toss again.

How To Make Apple Crisp Filling
In a small bowl, measure out 2 tablespoons of cornstarch, one teaspoon ground cinnamon and 2 tablespoons of sugar, and give it a stir. I tasted my apples, and they were a bit tart, so I added another 2 tablespoons of sugar. Mix then sprinkle over the chopped apples. I like to sprinkle a bit, then mix and repeat until finished.

Pour the apples into a large casserole dish. Sprinkle the apple crisp topping over the apples. This apple crisp is so easy, you don't have to worry about making a crust and it cooks up in about an hour. Pop the apple crisp into the 375 oven, and bake for 5060 minutes. I topped mine with foil for the last 15 minutes to keep the top from getting overdone.

When you see the apple crisp filling bubbling up around the edges, and the crumb topping is golden brown, this easy apple crisp is done! Let it sit for about 10 minutes and serve warm with ice cream.

I love this apple crisp because you can make it ahead of time, for holiday parties or potlucks, then just reheat in the microwave or a warm oven and serve. It's also delicious served room temperature and will keep for 2 3 days on the counter.

Thank you so much for watching and I’ll see you in the next video!
