*Ingredients*

Hydrolyzed whey protein isolate, whey protein isolate, natural and artificial flavors, salt, soy lecithin, potassium chloride, sucralose (an artificial sweetener also called Splenda®.

*Benefits and Effectiveness*

While we should note that this isn't 100% hydrolyzed whey, most of the whey here is hydrolyzed and that may have some benefits. The most basic form of whey is concentrate, which can be processed into whey isolate (which has most of the fat and carbs eliminated), and then the most processed form you'll find is hydrolyzed whey.

Hydrolyzed whey has been partially broken down by acid or enzymes so a lot of people consider it partially digested. What this means is it digests more quickly and some studies have found that it helps athletes to recover more quickly than whey isolate.(J AOAC Int. 2008 JulAug;91(4):10025., J Sci Med Sport. 2010 Jan;13(1):17881.)

This is mostly relevant to elite athletes who work out more than once a day, but still, it may be important for certain consumers.

** Price **

The cost varies a lot but the average 1.6pound tub is about $35, so it's roughly $1.50 per scoop or 6 cents per gram of protein. That's pricier than regular whey but that's not surprising given all the work that goes into processing hydrolyzed whey.

** Pros **
Tasty (if sweet) with water
May help you recover more quickly
Lots of protein per calorie
Low in cholesterol
Practically lactose free

** Cons **
Not 100% hydrolyzed
Contains soy
Contains artificial sweeteners
A little pric
