There is no statutory list of the duties of a trustee. Hudson identifies a total of twelve duties, but other commentators may take a different view. (Hudson (2013) Equity & Trusts, p.354). There are some duties defined by statute, in particular under the Trustee Act 2000. In addition, in some types of trust, particularly in cases such as pension funds or unit trusts, additional duties may be imposed by statute.
