In today’s video I am going to have a look at the reality of most people’s dream mining job. Driving the big dump trucks on the surface. I’m not trying to burst anyone’s bubble, just give you an accurate account of what happened to these jobs and where the new in demand jobs are (that pay big dollars) in the industry.

Like anything else in life, things change and what was once (between 20032012) the best paying job in the industry (for what you have to do), has slipped backwards with the over supple of experienced truck drivers available and the amount of people happy to sign on to traineeships that pay less than $70K a year.

As always it pays to know how the system works to take advantage of it and knowing how the mine works, is the skill all the employers want in their New Starters.

If you are planning a mining career, then it pays to invest in the mining knowledge you will need to survive in one of these jobs as a Nipper, Truck Operator, Agi Operator or Diamond Driller Offsider.
