Dog body language can be confusing. Most things dogs do when fighting are also done in play. You generally can't rely on just one part of a dog's body language to determine if they are being friendly or aggressive. You should evaluate the mouth, the back, the tail and also look at their overall body language. Is it "tight" or "loose"? Tight is often an issue and loose is never an issue.
