Dear friends and followers, welcome back to my channel and to a great video about, "Do pilots listen to music whilst flying?" I´ve heard that question so many times, it was time that I do a video about this topic.
Okay first off, yes they can listen to music whilst flying, the question is rather, do they?
To be able to do so you need the necessary headset which you can connect to your music player/mobile phone or similar device. Not all headsets come with this feature, only a handfull allow that pairing.

Compare this situation with driving your car. I like listening to good music in my car as you do probably too. If St. Lucia or Michael Jackson is playing I’m totally losing it, but still I like to be aware of my surroundings. Is my engine running smoothly, are there any unusual noises coming from my tires or brakes, suspension, gearbox, wipers etc. Okay this might sound a little odd, but whilst driving, I am "one" with my car and me and you should have the same awareness whilst flying. Are the engines running smoothly, are there any unusual sounds, vibrations, does the plane feel right. You wanna be "one" with your plane, as I keep saying, be the pilot of your plane not the other way round.
So if I were to be listening and rocking to Coldplay whilst flying, my sense of judgment would be reduced to my visual and feeling senses only. And hearing is so incredibly important during flying. One the A320 I could judge the power setting on approach just by listening to the engine sound. If I would have Rod Stewart blasting Vagabond Heart through my ears at the same time, there is no way I could have judged the power setting then.

Flying includes all senses of your body, to the misconception of many passengers and airline CEO´s who think we just push buttons. It's primarily about what you see, hear, and feel. And there is a reason why I mentioned the sense of feeling last. The combination of all three is great during VMC conditions, but if you´re in IMC, the first sense you have to completely ignore, is the feeling sense. Only trust your instruments, not what your bum tells you! It feels like you’re going straight, but could be in a 30degree banking turn.

But see more in the video!

Thank you very much for your time! I hope you enjoy this video!
Wishing you all the best!
