DIY Solar Bore Pump Install | Start to Finish + Cost Summary (TuHorse)

Off Grid City Couple

In this beginner friendly video you'll see the entire process from start to finish of installing a TuHorse Solar Powered Bore Pump.

We're really happy with the performance of the pump, and how it came preassembled, including 40 metres of submersible cabling.

Irrigation Design & Friction Loss Calculations if you'd like to learn more about sizing your piping for best performance:
   • Irrigation Design & Friction Loss Cal...

We used 1.5" poly pipe here which has a friction loss of about 0.7m head (7kPa) at 30 litres/minute over a 100 metre span of pipe. 1.25" poly has about 1.7m (17kPa) of resistance over a 100m span. So in this instance, resistance from the poly pipe is basically negligible.

We also tried out some other alternatives here to make the project more cost effective, and were pretty happy with how the star picket solar panel frame turned out. BUT wouldn't recommend buying solar panels on eBay after this experience, it's just not worth it. Manufacturing has evolved to the point where well known brands are now affordable enough to not go with the good old eBay specials.

is a site we've purchased solar components from before and they are a great example of an honest, well priced business with expert knowledge. (they don't pay us to say this, we just love their work)
