As always remember that if your hamster is a known chewer avoid using plastic supplies, for this particular DIY a metal container will work just as well for a chewer. It's also your responsibility as a pet owner to check all toys regularly (even if you have a nonchewer) and remove damaged or worn out toys so as to keep your pet's environment safe :)
