The Falconieri delle Orobie are a family from the town of Villa d'Adda, Italy, who became so enamoured with the barn owl a family friend gave their daughter, Martina, they decided to make the adoption of nocturnal and diurnal raptors their fulltime hobby. Their sanctuary currently hosts 22 barn owls and became famous after a YouTube video of Martina petting an owl went viral. 13 million people watched it, including us. Consequently, we couldn't fight the urge to go and see the lovely owls ourselves.
