CP rare afternoon run from Janesville WI 25Apr2024

For several years, the CP job from S Beloit, IL to Janesville, WI has operated on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
The 25th of April 2024 was no exception, but on this Thursday they had enough traffic to make a second run in the afternoon with good sunlight to boot.
I caught up to them shoving their interchange for WSOR into East Yard in Janesville along side WSOR 4173 and HLCX 6328 which had just been tied down on the East Wye.
After this they grabbed their interchange from WSOR and headed down the line to Beloit past the WSOR roundhouse and fuel track.
After playing cat and mouse with them along the Rock River, I set up on the north side of Afton, standing at the location where CNW’s diamond once was. The CNW line is mostly a nature trail now, paralleling the CP up to Janesville.
The next view is the trestle over Philhower Rd on Beloit’s far north side. I was lucky the traffic cleared under the bridge before they went over and I kept recording a bit longer as you can here that engine working pretty good to get those eight scrap loads up to the plateau which makes up northern Beloit, on the east bank of the Rock River.
Finally we hit Summit Ave, which is about the last active crossing in the area still protected by Milwaukee Road crossbucks. This is a block north of the switch Union Pacific uses to reach Fairbanks Morse.
I hope you enjoyed this unusual encounter with the CP in some great weather. Thanks for watching! Andy
