Community is an Observational film about seagulls set at several Long Island beaches across different seasons. My objective was to observe the juxtaposition between human and seagull communities, and how these communities overlap through interspecies interactions. I compare the beach during Summer and Winter, sharing my personal connection with the beach in the summertime as a child, and following with recent footage in the Winter. The Summertime footage represents a nostalgic perception of the beach how I enjoyed growing up on Long Island when my family would spend many hours observing the beach and soaking up the sun. The footage in the winter represents a matured perspective of how the beach has changed over time, for both humans and animals coexisting within it.
