In this Shine guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this massive hit from Collective Soul notefornote.

The tuning for the main guitar part is Drop C# tuning. That is, starting from the 6th string, C# G# C# F# A# D#. There is a second rhythm guitar part, played by singer Ed Roland that is in Eb standard tuning, Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb. Or if your tuner reads the chromatic notes as sharps instead of flats, the tuning notes will be D# G# C# F# A# D#.

if you are playing "Shine" in just a one guitar band, you can get away with sounding pretty close to the original recording with just the main guitar part played in Drop C#.

We will start with that instantly recognizable opening guitar riff and go through each section of the song from there.
