George Clayton (18331889) was a real estate investor back in the early days of Denver, and in his will directed the City and County of Denver to build this school and orphanage for boys who lost their fathers and whose mothers couldn't take care of them. The boys stayed here, were educated here, and learned the skills of agriculture on a Clayton's nearby dairy farm. John Gilbert Graham who brought down Flight 629 on November 1, 1955 stayed here at this orphanage and school until he reached the age when he could no longer be here.
