Classic TV Theme: Three's Company

Part one of a threepart miniseries...
Based on a successful British sitcom ('Man About the House'), 'Three's Company' (1977) outlasted its inspiration and produced 172 episodes compared to 39 for the original. Premise: Guy seeking an apartment moves in with two women, pretends to be gay to get the landlord to approve. Over eight seasons there were cast changes and some backstage friction, but even in its final year the show, in the top ten for six seasons, still ranked a respectable #33. The theme song is by Joe Raposo, who was active in children's television (he wrote the 'Sesame Street' theme). 'Come and Knock on Our Door' is performed by Julie Rinker and Ray Charles (not the 'Georgia on My Mind' Ray Charles, but rather the leader of the Ray Charles Singers who sang backup on many tv shows and headlined dozens of albums).
0:00 Season two opening titles.
1:09 Season four opening titles. Don Knotts replaced the Ropers.
2:08 Season eight opening titles. Priscilla Barnes joined the show in season six.
3:08 End credits, a blend of seasons four and eight.
