Forgot to buy eggnog before the shops closed? That's a good thing because homemade with ingredients you already have and know tastes better. With or without booze, this is easy and delicious in a few minutes. Uncomplicated method and you stay in control of both sweetening and extra flavour permutations. Happy Christmas eggnoggers!
For each 1.5 liter batch:
3 eggs, separated
3 + 1 tablespoons sugar
1 liter whole milk (3.25%)
250 ml half cream (18%)
freshly ground nutmeg to taste
ground cinnamon to taste
up to 1 tablespoon vanilla extract (optional)
rum or bourbon to taste at serving (optional)
1 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey (optional)
