When we think about service, we often forget to give back to the elders in our family. Those affected by conditions that result in cognitive and functional impairment, such as dementia, can feel lonely and isolated due to their loss of independence. However, we can prevent distant relationships within our families through conscious efforts to include our elders in our daily lives. Gabriella Yabut is a senior at Moreau Catholic High school, born and raised in the Bay Area. Through her involvement in Campus Ministry and her own church, the presence of faith in her life has driven her passion for service. She aspires to pursue a career in the medical field in hopes of achieving her goal of making a difference in the lives of others by caring for their health and wellbeing.
