Two giants in this space are Carhartt and Dickies. People swear by each and typically stay pretty loyal to their brand of choice. Dickies people say that Carhartt is overpriced and they can get the same quality without the expensive name for less money. Carhartt people are even more loyal and tend to dress from head to toe in the brand, valuing the long history and solid track record.
So when looking at work jackets it's easy to see the value in Dickies. For what looks like a very similar jacket, the price is about $35 less no small amount especially for an apprentice or someone early in their career. Have a look at the Carhartt Active Jac versus the Dickies Rigid Duck Hooded Jacket: they look pretty damn similar. Both are 100% duck canvas work jackets with hoods and rib knit hems. They look like the jackets you'll find on the backs of working people in colder climates. So which is the jacket for you?
