In this video, we buy a 1990 Jayco Classique PopTop Caravan to renovate as a Winter project and enjoy during Summer camping trips. We set the van up for offgrid use, installing solar, an inverter and a diesel heater perfect for our chilly weather.

The entire project took us a few months to complete. We painted the walls and cupboards, replaced the dated lino/carpet flooring with vinyl floating floor tiles, updated the lighting to 12v LEDs and refurbished the kitchen to a more modern white tile and marble benchtop aesthetic. In total, we spend about $1,500 on the renovation.

We had an absolute blast doing up the caravan, and it was one of our favourite (and most satisfying) projects to finish. Buying and renovating this van marks the start of our journey into fulltime travel and fulltime van life, travelling Australia.
