My previous video showed how there is no Guadalupe River flow into Canyon Lake, TX. I wanted to share a ride around the lake to see a few sites. Canyon Lake dam construction began in 1958. In 1954, a flood control act was passed to begin construction on the Lake to control severe Guadalupe River flooding like they encountered in 1936 and 1938. It filled to the normal pool 909 feet above sea level by 1968 water impoundment started in 1964. Today, many of us love the lake and call it our homes. People love to tube, water ski, camp the list goes on and on. I have not done these videos to stir up any political debates or any of the other strange comments. I did it to show we do not have any river flow and how low the lake really is. Yes, we need rain in the right areas and a lot of it. Yes, we have grown way to rapidly. Who do you blame?????Bottom line is and I hate saying it the lake is for flood control and water conservation.
