Can Two LLCs in Different States use the Same Address | QOTD

Question of the Day: Does each LLC require an address for the state they reside in? What if the LLCs are in different states? For example, a holding company in New Mexico and child LLC in Florida. Can the New Mexico physical address be used for the Florida LLC?

Check with the state where the LLC is being formed to determine whether the company must have a local address. Even if you’re not required to have a local address for the business, you’re likely required to have statutory agent located in the state where the LLC is being formed. Additionally, if you’re required to list the owners of the LLC, they’re not likely required to have a local address. I’ve helped companies create entities in Arizona where the owners did not live in Arizona or even the United States.

If legal questions were easy, we wouldn’t need lawyers.
