Dogs always want to taste whatever we humans are eating. But when it comes to nuts, can our furry friends enjoy them as much as we do? Today, we're going to discuss the benefits and risks of dogs eating nuts!

ABOUT THE NUTS FOR DOGS:
So feeding your dog's peanuts is ok, for training rewards or treats or in their food, Just make sure to serve the nuts unsalted and the butter moderation because feeding your dog peanut butter daily can lead to obesity

THE BAD NUTS:
Macademia nuts, Pecans, Hickory nuts and Walnuts contain neurotoxins in them that cause neurological effects and in some cases a fever in dog's. These nuts should be avoided at all costs!

So just 1 nut shouldn’t cause neurological effects in your dog unless they are 4lbs or something it possibly could. So theoretically your dog would need to eat a 1020 nuts to see these neurological effects. But Keep the nuts away from as much as possible and certainly don’t use these nuts for training treats. Bring your dog to the veterinarian if they are experiencing clinical signs from nut toxicity!

NUTS THAT CAUSE STOMACH UPSET AND SERIOUS PANCREATITIS:
Pistachios, Almonds, Cashews and even Peanuts are rich in fat and cause gastric intestinal distress, inflammation and leads to stomach upset and pancreatitis. Dog's may vomit or have diarrhea and become uncomfortably bloated with intestinal gas after eating these nuts.

So, to answer the question, "Can dogs eat nuts?" my Veterinarian answer would be they can have a small amount of peanuts, but avoid all other nuts for our furry friends! Simply stick to their dog food and other raw food safe fruits and veggie treats.
