We finally visited a South Carolina State Park! On our way south on I95, we enjoyed a few days stay at Santee State Park, located in Santee, South Carolina. Santee State Park is located on Lake Marion. Lake Marion is known for its catfish, so naturally fishing is a big draw here. Also, you can find miles of hiking and biking trails. Finally, if you need a place to stay or you have your own camping unit/ equipment, you can rent one of the cabins there or reserve a campsite.

What we love about Santee State Park:
1. Peaceful
2. Miles of wooded trails and roads
3. Deer
4. Lake Marion, waterfront and waterview campsites
5. Close to Interstate 95
6. Reasonable price here!
7. Verizon works

What we didn't love about Santee State Park:
Lakeshore Campground is "rustic", including the entry road, the campground roads, and many of the campsites. Choose your site carefully. You may have to maneuver your rig on uneven ground, root mounds, around trees, and utilities. It is doable and there are sites there that can accommodate larger rigs. Also, there is only 30 amp service there.

If you have a larger rig, the Cypress View Campground is a better choice and it offers 50 amp service.

We camped at Lakeshore Campground in a 33' class A motorhome. We were able to back into our site and level, but we did have to maneuver a bit to due to trees. Doable and definitely worth a visit!

Heading south, to Savanah, Georgia, and Skidaway Island State Park.
