This is a sixpart series with a video for each day of our first trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in northern Minnesota, USA. We are Kevin and Sharon Page, from the Madison WI area. We also brought our two dogs, Papillon Dash (age 12.5) and JRTmix Copper (age 7).

Day 2 of the trip started at Voyageur North outfitters, who drove us 14 miles from Ely to our entry point (30) at Lake One. When we started paddling, it was 60F. By the time we had paddled 12 miles, done five portages, and set up camp, it was 95F with almost 100% humidity. Our campsite was an island in Hudson Lake, part of the region that burned to the ground in 2011 and is still recovering.
