As you may remember, I traveled to Brazil back in December of 2020. It was an extraordinary trip through the southern part of the country, and it solidified my love for authentic Brazilian barbecue. So, while I was at home between trips, I decided to grab some traditional Brazilian BBQ with a friend at Fogo De Chao in Coral Gables!

I linked up with my friend Thuany Lauria, who is half Brazilian and half Italian. We’d be getting 15 meats. At the market table, they had hearts of palm, Iberian ham, salmon, potato salad, and more. Elsewhere, they had all the meats cooking, including picanha and chicken hearts!

We tried a bit of the meat, which was perfectly juicy, salted, and seasoned. It was exceptional! At our table, we started with the polenta fries, which had some parmesan on top. We followed that with the fried banana, which fell apart in my mouth! It was the best maduro in my mouth!

The hearts of palm were soft and full of water, but still had a nice crunch. They were great! Next was the picanha, which is my favorite Brazilian cut of meat. Next, I tried some aged cachaca, which took me right back to the vendors along the highway between Curitiba and Florianopolis!

The beef ribs just melted in my mouth. It was so soft and tender. Then, we went with the fried yuca, which is my favorite. It’s so crispy and delicious! But the meat was the star of the show! It’s perfectly cooked and salted. They don’t use any sauces, so they let the flavors of the meat shine!

Next was guarana, which is a fruit drink, and pork loin with parmesan cheese. But first, we jumped on the lamb chop, which was amazing. I also loved the combination of the crumbly parmesan on the pork loin.

After that, I tried the caparinha, which is an alcoholic drink similar to a mojito or a margarita. The baby picanha had a nice garlic flavor throughout the whole piece. I also loved the chicken hearts!

Finally, we had some papaya cream for dessert. It was like a creamy papaya yogurt with sherry on top! It came with a sort of churro!
