Installing and using biogas is pretty simple and economical. We can easily convert kitchen waste into usable methane in a biogas digester. More details about the process and digester is in the video below
   • Biogas Plant at home.

In this Video, we will show some value additions to the existing BioGas unit . We have made four simple value additions;

1. Pressure Block : We have installed a Mild steel pressure block . This will add some weight on the floating drum . This weight will increase the flow and consistency of the gas.

2. Remote monitoring : We have installed a remote monitoring device. This will record the pressure and flow of gas. This device is powered using a 5 Watt solar panel . This will help us in recording Pressure and flow rate of gas. This also gives maximum and minimum gas parameters and host of other data.

3. BioGas scrubber or Filtration : The produced gas from the digester is not pure Methane. It contains some Carbon dioxide , moisture and hydrogen sulfide. These gases are responsible for smell in the output biogas. So a 3 module filter is installed to filter the gas. The three modules are
A. Water chamber: Carbon dioxide is dissolved here.
B. A Desiccant : Any kind of Hydroscopic substance like silica, rice , cat liter etc can be used to remove the moisture from the gas. In this case, we have used Cat litter and charcoal. Charcoal also adsorbs some smell from the gas.
C. Steel wool : Steel wool removes the hydrogensulfide from the gas .

4. Hybrid Stove : We have installed a 4 burner stove which has input from LPG and Biogas on the same platform. This way we can switch from one source to the other if required. Thanks to all these small nudges, the resultant gas is consistent, lower in viscosity (Same burner can be used for Biogas and LPG) and odour free.
