We estimate the trout to be well over 7 1/2 pounds. David has one on his office wall and this fish made it look small this fish was 27"30". I would never be the one to mount a fish just wish we had a net so I could've got a measurement. But I definitely knew the risk of not fishing with a net in a boat. I've hooked and fliped many 24”25" trout but this was on another level. Back in the 90's in Delacroix my stepdad had a 2730" trout same thing no net I tried to flip but it ripped away and was gone. I'll never forget that day and this day. It takes a big fish to rattle me and I was definitely rattled. Swamplures Dark Avocado was the color of the day again.
