Corning Museum of Glass

Kristina Logan is internationally recognized for her precisely patterned, delicate glass beads, which she combines with metalwork to create jewelry and functional objects.

In this video, Logan demonstrates her process of beadmaking at the torch, finishing the glass by cold working, and incorporating her glass and silverwork into completed pieces of jewelry. She also discusses the history of glass beads and shares the philosophy of her work. Logan says, "Beads are part of my lifelong fascination with art and ornamentation. Glass beads form a historical thread, connecting people and cultures throughout our history."

A committed educator, Logan travels extensively, teaching workshops and lecturing on contemporary glass beads and jewelry. Her intricate work can be found in the collections of The Corning Museum of Glass; The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the MuséeAtelier du Verre, SarsPoteries, France; and the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington D.C.

Produced from 1998 to 2014, each video in The Studio’s Master Class Series presents a portrait of an artist and teaches a glassworking technique. Until now, these 30minute videos have only been available on DVD.
