Investigators have recovered a data recorder from the container ship which crashed into a bridge in the US city of Baltimore, officials say.

Six people are presumed dead after the Singaporeflagged Dali cargo vessel struck the Francis Scott Key Bridge as it left port on Tuesday.

Investigators hope the recovered data recorder will answer questions about how and why the ship malfunctioned.
