The Balinese cat is a breed that originated in the United States in the 1950s. Despite its name, it is not originally from Bali or any part of Indonesia. The breed is essentially a longhaired variety of the Siamese cat, resulting from a natural genetic mutation. Breeders selectively bred longhaired Siamese cats, and the Balinese emerged as a distinct breed with unique characteristics.
