Designed by Phillip Berman from Balance Catamarans, and naval architect Anton du Toit, the Balance 482 catamaran is a blue water performance cruiser, the smaller yacht in the Balance range next to the 526.

She sports reverse bows, foam core hulls, decks and furniture and is carbon reinforced in higher stress areas, for rigidity and sailing performance. There is an option for daggerboards or high performance fixed keels.

She has a powerful 133 m2/1,432 square foot sailplan, to get going early sailing in light winds and is built to handle stronger conditions well once you have shortened sail.

The 486 comes with a flexible VersaHelm (swing helm) and is designed for shorthanded and even singlehanded sailing if needed. Her selftacking jib makes beating to windward easy and all lines are led back to the upper helm station. Dual furling headsails, electric winches, and a bridle mainsheet system make this a comfortable boat to sail in all conditions.
