Autistic Masking (CAT-Q Camouflaging Autism Traits Test)

Masking is the reason many Autistic adults, particurarly Autistic females, evade diagnosis. Masking does not make us "less" Autistic. It simply means our traits are camouflaged. The CATQ (Camouflaging Autistic Traits Questionnaire) test is used to detect masking and broader camouflaging behaviors that often coincide with autism. This test is particularly useful for individuals who have not received an autism diagnosis due to their traits being camouflaged or "hidden" during the diagnostic process. The CATQ is useful in identifying autism because high masking Autistic adults typically have considerably higher scores than their neurotypical counterparts. Therefore, if an individual scores within the range of Autistic respondents, further investigation into an autism diagnosis may be warranted.

In this video, watch take the CATQ and discuss both my responses and results. See the link to CATQ test and video chapters below for easy reference.
