Kittens are often victims of a preventable but deadly health issue dehydration. Any kitten with diarrhea, upper respiratory infection, parasites, or any number of other illnesses can quickly become dehydrated and die. PLEASE NOTE: While a severely dehydrated kitten will need emergency subcutaneous fluids given by a professional, there are some things you can do to keep your kitten hydrated and healthy. Recipe link for DIY/homemade Electrolyte Water:
* 1 cup water (boiled, then completely cooled)
* 2 tsp sugar
* 1/8 tsp salt
* 1/8 tsp baking soda
Combine all ingredients and warm slightly. Store in a cool area. Discard and make a new batch after 24 hours.
