On April 1922, 2022 I did a solo backpacking trip on the Appalachian Trail from Damascus, VA to Grayson Highlands State Park, VA. The total mileage was just about 36 miles.

I tried out 2 new big items on this trip. The first was my tent. I went from the MSR Hubba Hubba, which I really liked, but I wanted to cut some weight. I saved 2 pounds with my new Dan Durston XMid 1 tent. It is my first trekking pole tent. I really liked this tent. It's so quick and easy to setup and break down.

The 2nd big item was my backpack. I was using the Osprey Exos 58 liter pack. Again, I had no problem with that pack, I just wanted something a little lighter. I think I saved about 1.52 pounds with the switch to the Outdoor Vitals Shadowlight 60. That pack worked very well. It was a little squeaky, but I'll have to find a fix for that on my next hike.
