The present flag of the United Mexican States was adopted from September 16, 1968. It is segmented into three equal parts, each of a different color (green, white and red) and with the coat of arms of Mexico in the center of the white stripe. It is one of the most significant patriotic symbols of this nation, its day is celebrated the 24 of February. Its form is defined in article 3 of the Law on the National Coat of Arms, Flag and Anthem.

ARTICLE 3. The National Flag consists of a rectangle divided into three vertical stripes of identical size, with the colors in the following order from the green: (symbolizes hope), white (symbolizes purity) and red (symbolizes blood shed in war). In the white strip and to the center, it has the National Coat of Arms, with a diameter of three quarters of the width of said strip.
