Prince George's County Executive Angela Alsobrooks has defeated Rep. David Trone in the Democratic primary race for U.S. Senate, the AP projects.

The hotly contested U.S. Senate primary will end in favor of Alsobrooks, who will advance to face former Gov. Larry Hogan in the general election.
