Ancient China for kids. This video is a lesson on Ancient China History for kids about the Yellow River Valley Civilization. Kids will learn the amazing legends of the yellow River valley civilization. The Yellow River Valley is the birthplace of an ancient Civilization in China. This video explores how the people of valley tamed the Yellow River ( Huang He ), created a culture that respected hard work and family ( filial piety ). The rulers of the Yellow River Valley had to treat the people well to maintain the mandate of heaven for their Dynasty. Many Chinese dynasties took place during this time including the Shang Dynasty, Zhou Dynasty, and the Qin Dynasty. They had rulers such as The Yellow Emperor, Yu the Great, Emperor Tang and Shi Huangdi. These rulers sought the Mandate of Heaven. The people of the Yellow River Valley Civilization built the Great Wall of China, learned and kept the secret of silk production ( sericulture and Leizu ), created great ways of living such as Taoism and Confucianism ( thanks to Confucius and Lao Tzu ), and they created a vast trade network across the entire world known as The Silk Road. The people of the Yellow River Valley also loved and respected their elders ( filial piety ).
