Takes a few minutes but worth the experience. My niece has been deaf since she was born. She has never heard the sound of her parents voice or her 6 year old son, Blake. Every day for the next several months she will learn how sound works and where it comes from. Even a dog barking is startlingly and strange to her.

Amy went to school and was raised to learn how to speak, read lips and use English sign language. She can read and write and has a college degree. All in English language and as well as English and American Sign Language. She watches movies and television with CC. Amy is just like every other American girl and doesn’t consider being deaf a disability, its all she knows.

We text with Amy just like everyone else. She learned all of these things from the time she was 18 months old at deaf school. She learned speech with her teachers by feeling the vibration of sound with her hands touching her throat. The only difference between Amy and the hearing world is she must look at you to have conversations.

That was Amys sister on the phone and she was in another country at the time. She wasn’t rude, it was her love for her sister and wanting to be a part of this day! We were told to be very quiet and not to start celebrating until after. We didn’t want to overwhelm her with sounds. It was an amazing experience for all of us.

The video doesnt show that We all said I love you and we all cried. It was awesome and emotional.
